CHRISTMAS TOUR OF HOMES

Arnold home features traditional, other styles
Nancy Bertholf For The Statesman

The Arnold Home The Arnold Home Guests attending the 2009 Women's Unity Fellowship Christmas Tour of Homes will have the opportunity to view six houses featuring a variety of decor.

This year's event is on Dec. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Tickets are available at Copeland's Chandler Drug, Chandler Public Library, and from the homeowners.

Proceeds benefit the library, Brenda Epperson Memorial Scholarship, and other non-profit agencies.

Allyson (Monk) and BJ Arnold have lived in their Cedar Bend home for over a year.

The traditional style features items from people and places they love. An arrowhead display was collected by BJ Arnold and his grandfather, and other furniture pieces were handed down by grandparents and great-grandparents.

His antler collection hints at his passion for hunting.

The family Christmas tree will be decorated in bronze and gold crosses. The newlyweds have another tree that will feature a picture for each Christmas they have been married.

Family friend Ann Agard has shared many of her recipes with Allyson Arnold.

Her husband's favorite is pecan pie:

3 large eggs 1 cup dark brown sugar

1/3 cup melted margarine

1 cup white Karo syrup 1 tsp. vanilla

1/8 tsp. salt

1 to 1-1/2 cups chopped pecans

Beat eggs until light. Add all the ingredients except pecans. Mix well, but not until fluffy.

Add pecans and stir. Pour into an unbaked pie shell.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes at 350.
