Bears toppled in bi-district playoff round
      CORSICANA - The comeback kids of Brownshoro High couldn't overcome a second quarter, offensive onslaught by the Lorena Leopards in the first round of the football playoffs Saturday. Lorena (8-3) scored 30 points in that second quarter, taking a 23-point lead into halftime, a lead Brownsboro (8-2) was unable to come back from.

All good things must come to an end and, `Why this job?'
      And now it's over, but it was a nice ride. After the clock ran out Saturday at Corsicana's Tiger Stadium, and the Bears football season was over, I found myself in a strange situation. I think I was reacting like a lot of the players, coaches, cheerleaders, band members, Golden Girls, friends, family and fans. I wasn't ready for it to be over.

Bearettes at the top of District 20AAA's All-District honors
      The success of a 32- win season will bring with it much deserved recognition. For the Brownsboro Bearettes volleyball team, it showed in the players honored for their play during the 2009 season that finished with a co-championship in District 20AAA and a trip to the playoffs.

Bearettes sweep Winona
      WINONA - The Brownsboro Bearettes varsity and junior varsity squads overpowered the Winona Lady Cats in matchups held Friday, Oct. 13 in Winona. The varsity Bearettes scored in double-digits in each quarter of their 67-30 win, while the junior varsity used a stifling defense to post a 41-5 road victory. Varsity 67, Winona 30
