Ben Wheeler prepares to decorate town
BEN WHEELER - Residents are being asked to bring decorations for the town’s first "old fashioned Christmas" event here Monday.
"This is our first opportunity to do this," Brooks Gremmels said. "We’re asking people to bring their decorations for the Christmas tree and to decorate the town."
Stacey Gilchrist, Ben Wheeler’s 2009 hog queen, will light a 14-foot Christmas tree at Moore’s Store.
"We’ll have Christmas carols, egg nog and punch, and huge candy canes will be given out to each child."
Also, Santa and Mrs. Claus will attend for photos with the kids.
"The whole town is getting excited about this," Gremmels said.
The event is set for 6 to 8 p.m. in downtown Ben Wheeler.
