CHRISTMAS TOUR OF HOMES
The Horton Home
Nelda Horton enjoys entertaining family at Christmas, and this year she will expand the guest list to include visitors on the annual Christmas Tour of Homes.
Horton is planning a traditional holiday decor with theme rooms throughout her Phoenix West residence.
The tour has offered her the opportunity to bring out family heirlooms and pictures she has saved for years.
The guest bedroom will feature a Christmas tree decorated in old family jewelry and handkerchiefs, as well as photos of her grandparents and their siblings.
In honor of her 5-yearold grandson, the master bedroom will showcase Jacob's tree.
But those who know Horton even slightly will not be surprised to find one room laden with Texas Longhorn memorabilia.
Nephew Dan Horton will be on hand to provide a spirited description of the tree and all the burnt orange accessories.
The living and dining rooms will feature angels, creches and crosses as a reminder of the true meaning of the season.
In the sunroom will be a tree decorated with all the treasures collected during Horton's long teaching career.
When the Hortons gather during the holidays, a facorite recipe is the following sausage-ball mix:
1 lb. pkg. sausage 3 cups Bisquick
1/2 lb. grated cheese
Mix together and form into small balls the size of a quarter. Bake at 350 degrees until brown.
The Chandler Christmas Tour of Homes is set for Dec. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets are available Copeland's Chandler Drug, the Chandler Public Library and from the homeowners.
