CHANDLER ELEMENTARY

October was a busy month. We participated in the Pow Wow parade, celebrated School Bus Safety Week, Safe Schools Week, Fire Prevention, and Red Ribbon Week.

Thanks to Sonic, we were able to receive some science supplies for our discovery room and some leveled readers through the Limeades for Learning project.

We ended the month with our Fall Festival organized by our PTO and raised over $4,000.

In November, we honored our veterans by displaying pictures on the wall. Third grade presented a program on Space. We honored our grandparents by having a special day for them, and learned about Thanksgiving.

We are having a canned food drive that started on Tuesday and we have set a goal for 1,000 food items. Upcoming events: second grade Christmas program, Book Fair, PTO Christmas store and celebrating Christmas.

Pre-K has leanred about colors through observing the leaves changing colors in the Fall. They learned about Thanksgiving.

Kindergarten studied pumpkins, how the Indians and Pilgrims celebrated Thanksgiving and helped to prepare a Thanksgiving Feast.

First grade has learned about pumpkins through a field trip to Moore Farms and has learned about traditions.

Second grade has learned about communities, and walked to Citizens National Bank, where they learned how to write and cash a check.

They also learned about the parts of the body.

Third grade is working on the multiplication facts and their reading strategies. They had a parent TAKS night on Tuesday, during which parents could learn how to help their students prepare for the state mandated test.
