Bearettes continue strong play

The varsity Bearettes lasted all the way to the final of the Lindale Tournament, before falling to host Lindale, 48-46.
The Bearettes were up 24- 19 at half, and by one point after three periods of play, but Lindale outscored Brownsboro 16-13 in the fourth quarter to take the championship.
Hillary Shaffer led the way with 16 points, Tiffany Hurd had nine points, and Yniqua Mosley had eight points.
LaQuesha Cooper and Synola Harmon had six points each. Lakesha Johnson added a free throw in the contest.
The Bearettes got to the championship game with a 53-34 win over Hawkins in the semi-final matchup.
Brownsboro had a fourpoint lead at half-time, then outscored Hawkins 17-4 in the third quarter to put the game away.
Hillary Shaffer led Bearettes scorers with 14 points and Chelsea Chambers and Synola Harmon had nine points each.
LaQuesha Cooper had six points, Tiffany Hurd had five points; and Lakesha Johnson and Yniqua Mosley had four points each. Desiree Johnson had two points.
The Bearettes opened the Lindale tournament with a 60- 33 win over Henderson. Brownsboro opened with a 36-17 first-half lead, then outscored Henderson in each of the final two periods.
Hillary Shaffer had 11 points, LaQuesha Cooper had 10 points, and Chelsea Chambers and Tiffany Hurd had nine points each.
Desiree Johnson had four points, while Lakesha Johnson and Megan Hain had two points each.
JV wins two of three in Bullard Tournay
The junior varsity defeated Van and Bullard to end the tournament, but opened with a loss to TK Gorman.
The Van victory was the final contest of the tournament, a 40-30 win sparked by a strong first-and fourthquarter performance.
The JV outscored Van 13- 7 in the first quarter and 11- 5 in the third quarter.
Krystilyn Woods led the Bearettes with 10 points and Mallorie Lough had eight points.
Jacobi Parker and Shayla Mitchell had six points each while Maegann Lough had five points. Sierra Bell had three points and Cashay Carter had two points.
The JV also defeated Bullard No. 2, 32-7 in a runaway contest.
Sierra Bell led the way with 12 points and Mallorie Lough had eight points.
Krystilyn Woods Had six points, Jocobi Parker had five points, Cashay Carter had three points, Courtney Cook had two points, and Rae Rae Winnett had one point.
The junior varsity Bearettes opened with a 25-11 loss to Henderson in the tournament's first game.
A cold first half was their undoing, as Henderson opened a 9-2 lead headed into the second half.
Mallorie Lough had six points and Sierra Bell had two points. Cashay Carter, Maegann Lough and Courtney Cook had one point each.
Brownsboro sweeps Terrell teams
Brownsboro's Bearettes squads each defeated their Terrell Lady Tigers opponents on Nov. 24.
The varsity won by 14 points; the junior varsity by 17 points; and the freshman team by 26 points.
Terrell is a 4A school, while Brownsboro is a 3A school.
The varsity doubled up Terrell in the first half, ending the half up 24-12 on their way to a 41-27 win.
Hillary Shaffer had 18 points and Synola Harmon had 10 points.
LaQuesha Cooper had eight points, Desiree Johnson and Tiffany Hurd had two points each, and Chelsea Chambers had one point.
The junior varsity had three quarters where they gave up two, four, and two points to their Terrell opponents. Brownboro posted a 32-15 win with the defensive effort.
Mallorie Lough had 13 points and Sierra Bell had seven points.
Valerie Edwards had five points, Krystilyn Woods had three points, and Rae Rae Winnett and Brittany Capps had two points apiece.
The freshman team's defensive effort was near total. The Bearettes gave up two, two, zero, and four points to the Lady Tigers and recorded a 34-8, blowout win.
Jacobi Parker led the way with nine points and Shayla Mitchell had eight points.
Tracy Booth and Brittany Dykes had three points each. Baylie Conner had two points. Megan Garrett and Tori Shultz had one point each.
