Bears varsity has 3-2 week

The Bears varsity squad went 2-2 in the Van Vandals tournament last week, after posting a home win over the Crandall Pirates.
The tournament record came from an opening day win, a closing day win, and a middle day that saw the Bears lose twice.
Van tourney sees split
The Bears used a strong second quarter to fuel their final day win over Glen Rose, 39-30.
Down 15-12 after one period of play, Brownsboro used a 13-3 quarter to post a 25-18 half-time lead.
A defensive second half saw the Bears outscore Glen Rose 14-12.
Jqacob McCarthy had nine points, three assists and six rebounds. Cameron Warren had nine points and four repounds.
Zack Bailey had five points and 14 rebounds. Ryand Smith and Ryan Owens had four points each and Smith added four assists.
Brett Ralson and Tyler Rogers had three points each. Nick Jones had two points and three rebounds.
The middle day (Friday) of the tournament proved brutal for the Bears, as they lost by four points to Kennedale and by two to Liberty-Eulayla.
The game against Liberty- Eulayla was close throughout. Brownsboro was up 17- 15 after one, 26-25 after two, tied at 41 after three, and then was outscored by a single bucket in the fourth quarter to fall, 59-57.
Ryan Smith led with 19 points, four assists and five rebounds. Jacob McCarthy had 18 points, three assists and eight rebounds.
Nick Jones had nine points and three boards. Tyler Rogers had five points, five assists and four rebounds, while Zack Bailey had five points, two assists, and six rebounds. Cameron Ward had one point and four rebounds.
In the Kennedale game, it was the up-and-down performance of the Bears that proved hard to overcome.
They opened the game with a nine-point first quarter to trail, then came back with a 25-point second quarter for a 34-25 half-time lead.
The Bears scored 11 in the third quarter to keep a sixpoint lead going into the final period, but saw their offense go cold and Kennedale score 13 to Brownsboro's three to get the win, 52-48.
Jacob McCarthy led the way with 25 points and eight repounds. Ryan Smith had 13 points, five assists and a rebound.
Nick Jones had six points, an assist, and five rebounds. Cameron Warren, Zack Bailey and Tyler Rogers had one point each. Bailey added 10 rebounds.
In their opening day win over Prosper, the Bears let a five-point, half-time lead slip away, but came back in overtime to post the win.
Brownsboro outscored Prosper by one in the overtime period, to post a narrow, 68-67 win to begin the Van tournament.
Jacob McCarthy had 21 points and 14 rebounds. Zack Bailey had 15 points and eight rebounds.
Ryan Smith had 12 points (five in overtime), three assists and four rebounds. Ryan Owens had 10 points, an assist, and one rebound.
Tyler Rogers and Nick Jones had three points each. Rogers had four assists and three rebounds, too.
Bret Ralson had two points and four rebounds, while Cameron Warren had two points, two assists, and seven rebounds.
Bears 46, Crandall 42
Brownsboro managed to make a 13-7 second quarter stand up as the impetus for a four-point win over Crandall, in a game held in Brownsboro, Dec. 1.
Ryan Smith had 19 points, three assists and five rebounds for the game. Jacob McCarthy had 14 points, three assists and seven rebounds.
Ryan Owens had seven points, an assist and one rebound. Tyler Rogers, Zack Bailey and Cameron Warren had two points each. Rogers added seven rebounds, Bailey had nine rebounds, and Warren had five rebounds.
