Bearettes double-down Palestine in seventh place tourney game

The Brownsboro Bearettes dominated play in finishing the Great East Texas Shootout tournament (held annually in Brownsboro) with a win over Palestine in the seventh place game.
The Bearettes more than doubled the Lady Wildcats' offensive output in coming away with a 54-25 victory.
LaQuesha Cooper and Y'Niqua Mosley led the way for the Bearettes, each scoring 11 points.
Chelsea Chambers hit for eight points, including two, 3-point shots, and Desiree Johnson had six. Synola Harmon and Tiffany Hurd had five points each.
LaKeshia Johnson and Chelsea Holcomb each added two points in the game.
Brownsboro was up 13- 4 after one period and by 24-11 at half-time. The lead swelled to 18 points after three periods of play and Coach Fred Griffin emptied the bench in the fourth quarter.

The Bearettes were even more dominate in their tournament opener, against the Rusk Lady Eagles.
Brownsboro scored the first 31 points of the game and Rusk didn't score its first points until the Lady Eagles scored on a rebound with two seconds left in the first half ... the only points Rusk had in the half.
By the end of the third quarter, Brownsboro was up 44-4.
Hurd led the way with 14 points and LaQuesha Cooper and Y'Niqua Mosley each had nine points.
Hillary Shaffer had seven points and Chelsea Chambers added three. Desiree Johnson, LaKeshia Johnson, Carley Smith and Synola Harmon each had two points.
In their second game of the first day of the tourney, it was a cold fourth quarter that moved the Bearettes into the consolation bracket.
Up 31-30 after three periods of play, the Bearettes scored only three points in the fourth as they lost to Parish Episcopal, 44- 34, for their only losss of the tournament.
Shaffer had 17 points. LaQuesha Cooper had seven points and Harmon had six. Mosley added four points for the Bearettes.
In second day action, Brownsboro defeated the Jacksonville Lady Maidens, 33-21, to earn its way into the seventh place game.
Mosley and Shaffer each had seven points to lead the Bearettes in that contest, while Cooper addeed six points.
Harmon and Hurd had four points each, while Desiree Johnson and LaKeshia Johnson each had two points. Chambers added a free throw.
