Rhett Goode Simmons, 87, died on Dec. 10, 2009.

He was a resident of Chandler for 30 years and was a member of West Lake Baptist Church.

Simmons worked as a hot copy for the federal government and served in the U.S. Navy.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1922, in Anacoco, La., to the late Willie Henry Simmons and Myra Hilma Henderson Simmons.
