OUT OF WORK
More than 3,000 Henderson County residents remain out of work, according to the latest report released by the Texas Workforce Commission.
November was the third straight month the county topped the 3,000-unemployed mark, and the fifth out of the last six months in that most recent report.
Only August saw that figure lower when theTWC reported 2,988 unemployed Henderson County residents.
November was also the sixth consecutive month the county saw its unemployment rate higher than 8 percent. It was at 8.3 percent.
During that six-month streak, the highest unemployment (8.5 percent) was recorded in September and October. The lowest was 8.2 percent in June and August.
On the other side of the coin, more than 33,000 county residents were counted as employed in the TWC report releasing November employment figures.
December unemployment numbers are expected to be released by the TWC on Jan. 22.
Sales-tax revenue figures are expected to be released by the comptroller's office by mid January.
