Keep Brownsboro Beautiful seeks $100,000 for playground equipment
Brownsboro City Park
CHANDLER —
Keep Brownsboro Beautiful is seeking private donations to purchase playground equipment for Brownsboro City Park, Roxie Holley said.
"Just recently, the City of Brownsboro put on water bills a $1 optional donation," she said. "We had our first deposit on that in December. On 385 meters, 326 (customers) paid the donation. All of that money is earmarked for playground equipment at City Park."
KBB's goal for the project is $100,000.
The organization is entering its second year. Last December, after publicly asking for donations to buy materials for a new nativity scene, enough money was raised to display the new nativity on State Highway 31 by Christmas. The cost was $1,300.
Holley, KBB's vice president, said she understands Brownsboro businesses may be stretched to donate money for such projects.
"We're just asking for private donations. We have a list of names, and we've drafted a letter we're going to send them. We are very limited on our businesses in Brownsboro, but we just kind of need to get started."
A board for City Park was formed in October, and members conducted their first meeting in November. They are scheduled to meet again on Monday, Holley said.
"Our first meeting was strictly organizational. We will serve one- or two-year terms and probably will have quarterly meetings."
Holley chairs the City Park board. The other members are Brownsboro Mayor Ronnie Harris, J.D. Jones, Glenda Bearden, Jerry Alexander, Sam Blackmon, Jeffery Fulgham, and Charles Cox.
"We just need more people aware of what's happening in Brownsboro," Holley said. "We've got to keep this stuff in the news."
The park board will meet at the Brownsboro Community Center, at 5:30 p.m.
