Keep Chandler Beautiful, Inc. is a 501C3 non-profit volunteer organization and an affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful. The organization is funded by donations, fundraisers and grants. Our purpose is to make Chandler a more beautiful, cleaner and safer place in which to live and work for future generations. This organization was a group of volunteers led by Mayor Winston Reagan and Leedell Horton in 1995. Among the projects the group participated in includes planting of 50 crepe myrtles along State Highway 31 West, three brick welcome signs placed at west, east and south entrances to the city; Christmas decorations attached to light poles; and beautifi- cation in front of City Hall, including a new flag pole and patio with decorative seating. In 2001, Keep Chandler Beautiful won first place in Governor Community Achievement Award of $65,000, given by TxDOT for beautification along State Highway 31 West. After receiving a donation of land and four years in development, Arlie McCain Memorial Park became a reality. Landscaping, iron benches, and vintage lighting were donated by businesses and individuals. The gazebo and bridge both were designed and constructed by volunteers. This could not have been accomplished without the help of local businesses and private citizens. A most important and successful project was the development of Chandler’s first recycle center, running continually for 10 years and manned solely by volunteers. The loss of an outlet for recyclables forced its closure in 2009. The volunteers participated in educational programs at the elementary, intermediate and high-school level. KCB volunteers were present to assist where needed in the Chamber of Commerce Business Expo for several years. Recently, the organization purchased 20 new “Welcome to Chandler” banners, also 12 seasonal banners for the city. We take this opportunity to thank each and every one for your continued support. Our next meeting is scheduled for tonight, at 7, at the Chandler Community Center.
