LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Let Brownsboro become wet

While people in Chandler and LaRue are complaining about a possible liquor license being issued in Brownsboro, has anyone noticed all the empty buildings in town — places that should have businesses for growth, not the slow-aging, decaying signs of death for a small town?

Some people have taken it upon themselves to scream at Dusty Wise for daring to try to save our town. Why?

He’s not trying to get kids drunk or turn them into al- coholics, for Pete’s sake. Anyone who knows Dusty knows he’s a good man of high morals and values.

His kindness in helping people in trouble is known by many but spoken of by few.

This man would never do anything to hurt the community and its children. He’s simply trying to keep us self-sufficient and working. The people of Ben Wheeler got together and decided they didn’t want their town to die, so they redid, rebuilt, and refurbished, and it’s done wonders for them in a short time. We need to do the same.

It seems to me if those “concerned citizens” are so worried about the “demon rum,” they should consider the drugs that are available on the streets of Brownsboro and surrounding areas.

Kids from kindergarten through senior high can find anything they want, any time they want. May I suggest random urine tests?

You and you alone are responsible for raising your children to drink (or not) responsibly and obey the laws concerning that issue. If they don’t obey you or the laws, blame yourself --- not Dusty.

Bring in business and revenue. Build here, work here, buy here, grow here! Don’t let Brownsboro fade away like so many other small towns. Vote “yes” when the time comes. I will.
