The Bears fell a game short of making the playoffs, losing to district champ Fairfield in double overtime to end the regular season last week. Loyd Cook Photo The Brownsboro Bears’ run for the last playoff spot in District 20-3A fell one game short, and that game ended in a double-overtime loss to this year’s district champion Fairfield Eagles.

The game, held Tuesday, Feb. 16 in Fairfield, saw the Bears fall by only two points, 53-51 after the two extra periods of play.

It was the second and third quarters during the game that made the difference. Brownsboro opened up a 26-12 halftime lead thanks to a 17-3 second quarter in their favor.

But Fairfield turned the tables in the third quarter, outscoring Brownsboro 14-4 to narrow the deficit to four points.

In the fourth period, the Eagles made up the final portion of the deficit with a 12-8 quarter, sending the game into overtime.

Once there, it was back and forth before Fairfield ultimately posted the twopoint win by putting up 15 points to 13 for Brownsboro over the course of the two overtime periods.

Ryan Smith led the Bears with 18 points and Jacob McCarthy had 13. Cameron Warren added seven points.

Tyler Rogers had five points, Nick Jones had four, and Ryan Owens added two.
