The Brownsboro Bears baseball team posted three wins in tournament play at Palestine last week, defeating, Central Heights, Westwood and Groveton.
The Bears gave up only six total runs for the three games, while scoring 37 runs on offense.
Game 1, Feb. 25
Brownsboro 8, Central Heights 0
Colin Mason pitched five perfect innings and the Bears offense scored in each of the first three innings, as the team opened the Palestine tournament with a win.
Mason struck out eight and w4ent 2-for-3 at the plate.
Ryan Smith, Brett Tidwell and Cody Davlin also had hits in the game. Smith also had two RBI.
Game 2, Feb. 25
Brownsboro 14, Westwood 2
The Bears opened with five runs in the first inning, added two in the third, and capped it off with seven in the fourth inning in a blowout win over the Panthers.
Senior pitcher Clint Cundiff threw a complete game, allowing three hits and three walks.
Cody Davlin was two-for-three with a first inning grand slam homer and 5 RBI on the game. Brett Tidwell was two-for-three.
Brett Ralson, Matt Tobey, Jacob McCarthy and Cundiff all had doubles. Ryan Smith and Scott Spearman also had hits in the game.
Game 3, Feb. 27
Brownsboro 16, Groveton 4
It was an unusual turn through the batting order for the Bears.
In the top of the fourth inning, Brownsboro sent 21 batters to the plate, scoring all 16 runs they would have for the game.
Scott Spearman pitched 1 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking two.
Matt Tobey came on in relief, pitching the final 2 1/3 innings, striking out four.
The Bears’ offensive explosion came after Groveton had posted a 4-0 lead after three innings of play.
Davlin and Jose Mendez hit backto back homeruns in the game.
