The Brownsboro Bearettes held the Whitehouse Lady Wildcats without an earned run until the sixth inning in a contest held in Brownsboro Friday.
Unfortunately, by the sixth inning, the Bearettes had given up seven unearned runs -- five of them in the fourth inning when Brownsboro committed three infield errors -- in what turned into an 11-0 loss as the BISD entered Spring break.
Those errors came after Whitehouse led off the inning with a double in the gap. After a groundout to second baseman Allison Palmer recorded the first out and moved the runner to third, an error on a bunt scored the runner.
A popout to shortstop Carley Smith was the second out and the Bearettes looked as if they were about to be out of the inning. But a low throw and a drop at first base gave the Lady Wildcats yet another chance at the plate, one they took advantage of.

With runners at first and second, an infield single loaded the bases. A double cleared the bases and a stolen base had the runner at third. The third Bearettes error of the inning let the fifth unearned run cross the plate before a groundout got Brownsboro out of the field and back at bat.
But Brownsboro was unable to do much at the plate during the seven-inning contest. The Bearettes had only three hits in the game, none after the second inning, and had only one runner advance as far as third base.
Starting pitcher Paige Goggans went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering three unearned runs, while shutting down Whitehouse for the first three of those frames. Goggans struck out three and walked one batter.
Taylor McIntyre finished the game, going the last three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two.
