In the Seder service, people of faith celebrate and tell the story of deliverance, freedom and redemption.

As modern people far removed from this event of the Hebrews’ exodus from Egypt, it still is not diffi- cult to find common ground with the facts we have all been slaves and walked in darkness.

So while we celebrate these fundamental overlaps, we also find in the work of Jesus of Nazareth another step in the story of salvation that is more than worthy of celebration. Thus, we will use much of the Jewish Passover Seder service, with appropriate modifications to highlight the meaning of salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Remembering that it was a Passover celebration that was Jesus’ last supper with his disciples, we also find reason to celebrate the sacrament of holy communion in the Christian Seder service.

The congregation of Lake Palestine UMC invites its neighbors to join this celebration.

Because our facility will hold a maximum of 96 people for an event of this nature, we are taking reservations by telephone or e-mail, with the first 96 names provided a place at one of the tables.

The celebration will begin with a teaching session at 5:30 p.m., with the full Seder service set for 6. This will include a full dinner, and a nursery will be provided if reservations are specifically requested for this service.

Call 903-849-2379 for reservations, or e-mail lpumc@lakepalestineumc. com.
