God doesn’t want you to be uncertain or to wonder whether you belong to Him, or whether you will spend eternity in Heaven.

He wants you to have confidence that you do belong to Him and therefore will go to Heaven.

So, when you trust Jesus Christ, God gives you His Spirit to live in you as His guarantee or seal that you are His and destined for Heaven.

The Apostle Paul confi rms this in Ephesians 4:30, where he speaks of “the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

In Romans 8:9, he says you are in the Spirit if the Spirit of God dwells in you. He also warns there that “if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. In Romans 8:14, Paul says: “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.”

In Acts 2, when Peter told folks about Jesus’ death and God raising Him from the dead according to the Scriptures, the people were convicted (“pierced to the heart”) and asked Peter what they should do.

Peter answered that they should repent, (which means turn, change your mind and change your direction) and be baptized in the name of Jesus for (on account of) the forgiveness of their sins: “and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

As we can plainly see from the Bible, when you repent (turn) and trust in Jesus and His death for complete payment of the penalty for your sins, God forgives you, accepts you as His, and seals you with His Holy Spirit.

This is His guarantee you will be with Him in Heaven, and that’s more good news in Jesus Christ.
