Edom firefighters serve above call of duty
We learned this week that our Edom Volunteer firefighters recently went above and beyond the call of duty.
During our snowstorm a couple of weeks ago, as most of us were sleeping in our warm beds or wondering when our electricity would be restored, a select group of the firefighters spent the entire night clearing roads of downed trees and limbs and pulling vehicles which had careened into ditches due to poor visibility or slick roads.
Emergency vehicles were unable to get through when one driver needed rescuing. Certainly, the men were cold and wet from the snow and would have been more comfortable at home with their families.
Perhaps other departments in the area had members performing such selfless acts. We only know about our Edom Volunteer Fire Department members and would like to publicly recognize and thank them for their ongoing service to the people of our community.
Hats off to you!
