Many Christians miss the power of the Holy Spirit

Many Christians miss the blessings and power of the Holy Spirit in their lives. They mean well but fail to comprehend the signifi- cance of this tremendous gift.

The same powers of the Holy Spirit that created the universe indwells every child of God, yet many of us allow His power to lay dormant in our personal lives.

When a sinner is born again, God’s Holy Spirit comes into that person. He is there to guide, heal, bring joy and peace, and to work through us to accomplish God’s will.

This same God that saves, indwells, and offers eternal life also desires to work through His people to accomplish His will.

“I tell you the truth. Anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father,” John 14:12 says.

Christians easily recognize the power of God when leading a lost individual in the sinner’s prayer. They correctly understand it is not them, but the Holy Spirit who saves and then writes the new Christian’s name in the Lamb’s book of life.

Yet, this same Christian may innocently fail to follow God’s instructions to place their hands on a sick individual, anoint them with oil, and in the name of Jesus, command the sickness to be gone.

Perhaps the greatest work Christians can do is allow the power of the Holy Spirit to work through us. Christians should pray, and under the prompting of the Holy Sprit, speak words of healing, guidance, and comfort.

“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, this is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts,” Zechariah 4:6 says.

We need to stop seeing the things of God as the world sees them. It is not the person, but the indwelling Holy Spirit that brings about healing and blessings.

According to 1 Corinthians 2:4: “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.”

Only one Holy Spirit exists. That which works through an evangelist with a ministry that reaches millions is the same Holy Spirit that can work through a single individual in the most remote place on Earth.

This person, possibly all alone, empowered by the Holy Spirit, can kneel and pray beside a sickly child, friend, or loved one and see them healed.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,” Ephesians 3:20 says.
