Brownsboro 13, Crockett 0

A 10-run second inning broke open the Bearettes’ road game and Paige Goggans went four strong innings to keep the Crockett Lady Bulldogs in check as Brownsboro posted its second district win of the week.

“”Paige had a perfect game going through four (innings) ... with seven (strikeouts),” said Bearettes head coach James Croley. “She gave up a single to start the fifth inning.”

By then, Brownsboro had scored all of its 13 runs in the game. With the perfect game, and no-hitter, gone, Croley sat Goggans down and put Taylor McIntyre on the mound.

McIntyre induced a popup to shortstop, then struck out the last two batters to end the inning and the game, stranding the only Crockett baserunner of the night.

Goggans went four innings and gave up no walks while striking out seven. The hit leading off the fifth inning was the only one Goggans gave up in the game.

The 10-run second inning for the Bearettes reads like a grocery list: “Lindsey Wood singles ... Ashleigh Alford RBI double ... Marranda Good singles ... Chelsea Holcomb walks ... Lacey Pettit two- RBI single ... Allison Palmer RBI single ... Carley Smith RBI double ... Taylor Barnes two-RBI single ... Morgan Barnes single ... Alford RBI double ... Goode two-RBI double.”

A lengthy grocery list, but one that filled the scoreboard’s cupboards for the Bearettes.

Morgan Barnes, Alford and Pettit a RBI apiece in the bottom of the fourth for the rest of the Brownsboro runs.

Pettit was 3 for 4 with a run scored and 3 RBI, Palmer was 1 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI. Carley Smith was 1 for 4 with a run scored, a double and a RBI.

Taylor Barnes was 2 for 4 with two RBI. Lindsey Wood was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and a double. Morgan Barnes was 1 for 2 with a sacrifice fly and a RBI. Alford was 3 for 3 with three runs scored, two doubles and three RBI.

Goode was 2 for 3 with a run scored, a double and two RBI. Holcomb had a run scored and a walk. Logan Gaughan and Holly Hargrave each scored a run.
