Bearettes wind up district play’s final week

7-3 District 20-3A record nets Brownsboro second place finish for year

Brownsboro finished in second place in District 20- 3A. They won the district championship in 2009.

This past week, the Bearettes lost at home to the Fairfield Lady Eagles and won a road game against the Palestine Lady Wildcats.

B’boro 18, Palestine 5

It was a game that went only five innings and was stopped due to the 10-run rule.

The Bearettes scored early and often, putting three runs on the board in the first inning, seven runs in the second, two in the third, and five more in the fourth inning en route to an 18-6 win over Palestine.

Palestine scored more than one run in only one inning, the fourth, and even then scored only two runs.

Bearettes leadoff hitter Lacey Pettit scored three runs in the game, getting on base and setting the table for the hitters behind her in the batting order. She went 2 for 3 with a walk along with crossing home plate three times.

Allison Palmer with 3 for 5, with a three-run homer that came in the top of the second inning. She had two doubles and a run scored.

Carley Smith went 3 for 4, with a walk, two doubles, two RBI and five runs scored.

Taylor Barnes was 4 for 5 with three doubles, a RBI and three runs scored. Marranda Goode was 2 for 2 with two doubles, two walks, three RBI and two runs scored.

Lindsey Wood was 1 for 4 with a walk, a double and a run scored. Morgan Barnes was 1 for 4 with a double and three RBI. Jaime Murphy had a walk and a run scored.

Logan Gaughan had a run scored. Holly Hargrave had a sacrifice fly for an RBI in the fifth inning.

Paige Goggans was the winning pitcher, going four innings, while striking out four and walking one. She gave up three earned runs on three hits.

Taylor McIntyre finished the game, pitching on einning. She struck out two and walked two while giving up one hit and two earned runs.

Tuesday, April 13 Fairfield 14, B’boro 6

Brownsboro scored three runs in the fifth inning, but it was too little, too late as they trailed 10-3 before the offensive outburst.

The Fairfield Lady Ea- gles scored four runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to record 12 of their 14 runs for the game as they took an 8-run victory over Brownsboro.

In the fifth inning, Brownsboro started off when Lacey Pettit reached base on a one-out error by the Fairfield third baseman.

Allison Palmer followed with a single. Taylor Barnes hit a two-out RBI double to plate the first run, then Lindsey Wood plated Palmer and Barnes with a two- RBI double to cap the fifth for the Bearettes.

Pettit went 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Palmer was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Carley Smith drove in one run with a sacrifi ce fly.

Taylor Barnes was 1 for 3 with a double, a runs scored and a RBI. Wood was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBI. Morgan Barnes was 1 for 3 with a double and a RBI.

Chelsea Holcomb and Jaime Murphy were each 1 for 3 on the game. Holcomb added a RBI.

Paige Goggans went 5 innings on the mound, striking out two and walking three while giving up eight hits.

She allowed 10 runs, but only two were earned as the Brownsboro defense committed 10 errors during the game.

Taylor McIntyre pitched two innings, strking out three and walking two while giving up four hits. She gave up four earned runs.
