Tournment first of three slated for Winchester Park

The BMC Youth Foundation hosted their First Annual Spring Blast Tournaments. April 10-11. It was the first of three weekends of preseason tournaments at Winchester Park in Chandler. The games started with 7 boys t-ball teams and 5 boys freshman teams competing for firstt and second place. The first day was filled with lots of action as each team played two games to see where they would start on Sunday in the single elimination tournament.

Sunday games where exciting as teams played for the top two spots. The third place elimination games for both T-ball and freshman turned out to be some of the most exciting games. The Freshman Rangers and Bombers had to go 2 extra innings to decide who would play the Yankees. The Rangers won and went on to play the Yankees. The Yankees were hoping to play a tired Rangers team but the Rangers had just got warmed up.

In the T-ball division it was another exciting elimination game between the Longhorns and Rangers. These teams were meeting for the second time in the tournament. The first game was a tight game with the Rangers wining by four runs. The Longhorns were looking for revenge but they were denied as the Rangers won. The Astros had been waiting to play all day as their game with the La Poyner Rangers had been a forfeit.

The Rangers won becoming the T-ball tournament champs. The Astros finished second.

April 23, 24, 25 Boys Senior Midgets and sophomore teams will be playing along with girls 8u and 12u.

Teams from Athens, Van, Jacksonville, Mabank, Malakoff, and Whitehouse will be playing along with Chandler teams. This weekend’s games will began at 6:30 p.m. Friday night with the Jr. Midget division and Saturday at 9 a.m. with the girls divisions.
