The Brownsboro Independent School District will replace some textbooks with Web-based curriculum next school year after offi cials agreed on Monday night to purchase the program.

Assistant Superintendent Vicki York presented information about CSCOPE for grades kindergarten through 12 in English language arts, math, science and social studies.

The program will allow teachers to input and develop their own lessons and is set specifically to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. It is aligned to the Texas College Readiness Standards with embedded English language profi- ciency standards in all core areas.

In addition, CSCOPE will replace the state-issued textbook. In most instances, textbooks on the elementary science and social-studies levels are at least eight years old.

“I have yet to find an administrator that didn’t like the curriculum,” York said.

York visited administrators from Van and Tyler independent school districts. Brownsboro district offi- cials agreed to implement the program into the curriculum for the 2010-2011 school year.
