John H. Reagan Camp to host grave-marker dedication ceremony
The John H. Reagan Camp No. 2156 of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans in Palestine is scheduled to host on May 22 a Confederate grave-marker dedication ceremony at Foster Cemetery near Poynor.
The event will honor Private G.W. Milner and Private James Loflin. The two Confederate military markers, acquired from the U.S. Veterans Administration, will be placed at the soldiers’ graves and unveiled during the Confederate military ceremony.
The John H. Reagan Camp Honor Guard, Color Guard and Val Verde Artillery Battery will be a part of the ceremony with cannon and rifle salutes. The Davis-Reagan Chapter No. 2292 United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Ladies of the Reagan Camp will also appear.
To get to the Foster Cemetery from Palestine, take State Highway 155 to Farmto Market Road 315. Travel north on FM 315 approximately 19 miles to Anderson County Road 478. Turn right onto County Road 478 and go one mile.
The cemetery will be on the left.
