WRITER’S CORNER
WHAT A DAY
Not having breakfast, I am ready for lunch.
It is too early, so I better have brunch.
I eat at the restaurant, when I have a hunch
That I lost one of my fillings on that very last crunch.
Back at the office, hoping there’s no more,
But for what really happened I wasn’t in store.
The maintenance is working; they think it’s a chore.
But the sprinklers went off, and we were all out the door.
As I walk to my car, I look and begin to cry.
Someone slashed my tires, and can only ask why.
Policeman arrived and it was the same guy
The one that gave me a ticket, and I just want to die.
I call up my father; I call up my friends.
It seems everyone’s out and it seems to be no end.
Hailing a taxi, thirty-two fifty is the amount that I spend.
I hope this isn’t, that this isn’t, a trend.
Back at the door I reach for my keys.
Hoping I’ll find them, oh would you just please.
But, then I remembered the spare I leave by the trees.
By the time I find it, I am beginning to freeze.
Into the house, I run like a dash.
Up the stairs, all I want to do is crash.
Before pulling the covers, I see quite a flash.
Cameramen are outside, standing by my trash.
I open the door, hoping not to my demise.
But I would never have guessed — it was quite a surprise.
I won a big large check — it was quite a prize.
I guess my luck is changing — until I realize…
You will never guess what happened, no lies,
I woke up and bumped both of my thighs.
It must have been a nightmare of great size.
Remember: Never go to bed on full stomach of burgers and fries.
