Palooza set for Saturday

Staff Reports

LAKE PALESTINE — A variety of entertainers are scheduled to perform during the Lake Palestine Palooza at Villages Resort on Saturday.

“Live music straight out of Austin will bring the lake to life,” a press release said. “Defining the next generation of Texas music, Jonathan Terrell will bring his original Texas sound to the Piney Woods from 5:15 to 7. Jonathan’s Americana appeal is best summed up as ‘country and western for people who wear skate shoes.’”

Scorpion Child and JB & the Moonshine Band are also in the entertainment lineup. The event is set for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“The Lake Palestine Palooza has become an anticipated annual event,” the press release said.

“This giant lake party has live bands all day, several local radio stations broadcasting live, food vendors, exhibitors, bounce houses, great raffle prizes, boats in water for demo rides, motorcycles, ATVs, lake toys and more. It has proven to be a super, fun event for the entire family on this kick- off-the-summer holiday weekend.”

Palooza is a fundraiser for the Humane Society of East Texas. Admission is free, but participants are asked to donate dog or cat food.

“The Humane Society will bring out some great pets available for adoption. Vendors at the event will be donating a portion of their sales from the event to the Humane Society. There will also be some great raffle prizes with all proceeds going to the cause.”

The Villages is off Farmto Market Road 2661 west of State Highway 155.

Palooza is sponsored by H&W Marine, H&W Honda of Palestine, Gander Mountain, and The Villages.

This free community event is all made possible by the generosity of H&W Marine, H&W Honda of Palestine, Gander Mtn. and The Villages Resort, Marina and Water Park.
