Funeral services for Mandy Parker Volentine, 71, of Brownsboro are scheduled for Friday, at 2 p.m., at Leagueville Baptist Church, with Rev. Tom Bragdon and Bill Watson officiating.
Burial will follow at Jennings Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Carroll Lehr Funeral Home.
Mrs. Volentine died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in Brownsboro.
She was born in Brownsboro on Jan. 8, 1939, to Henry Rothchild and Viva Ann Meeker Parker.
Mandy graduated from Brownsboro High School in 1957 as valedictorian and earned a bachelors degree from Stephen F. Austin University.
She had a teaching career that spanned 30 years, with two years in Murchison and 28 years in LaPoynor Independent School District.
She was lovingly known as “MaMaw” to the community and especially the nursery class, which she taught at Leagueville Baptist Church for more than 23 years.
Mandy married Allen Alton “Tony” Volentine on Oct. 4, 1957, in Brownsboro.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Bragdon; and sisters, Jackie Dee Hall and Dottie Lewis.
Survivors include her husband, Tony Volentine of Brownsboro; son, Allen Alton Volentine and wife, Angela, of Brownsboro; daughters, Lynnetta Bragdon and husband, Tom of Leagueville, and Sarah West and husband, Jim, of Chandler; brother, Dean Parker of Brownsboro; Bill Parker of Brownsboro; grandchildren, Justin Bragdon and wife, Beth, of Brownsboro, Jason Bragdon and wife, Keri, of Columbus, Ohio, Jill Bragdon of College Station, Josh and Jared Bragdon of Leagueville, Trey, Trent and Trista Volentine of Brownsboro, and Sydney West of Chandler; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
