Southern Made to perform during ‘Sparks’
CHANDLER — The Southern Made band is scheduled to perform on July 3 during the Keep Brownsboro Beautiful Sparks in the Park in Brownsboro, Roxie Holley said.
“Southern Made performed for us last year in our first event, and they’ve been doing really well.”
Drummer Felix Vasquez said the county and rock band’s five members have been together for about three years, performing at area events.
“We try to stay busy around here,” he said.
The entertainment is set to begin at 4 p.m. at Brownsboro City Park. Barbeque sandwiches will be offered for donations, T-shirts will be sold, and a 50-50 cash drawing will be conducted. No fireworks show is planned.
About 200 turned out for last year’s event.
“We hope to double that this year,” KBB Vice President Charles Cox said.
KBB ordered playground equipment for City Park after the Brownsboro Economic Development Corporation provided $12,000 for the project. It includes six bounce swings, two toddler swings, two spring riders, and a climber.
The organization is working with webuildfun, inc. on the purchase and installation. It still needs about $125,000 for the rest of the playground equipment, which will include a tower, slides, and rock climbers. Other plans for the park include a second softball field, walking trail, and kitchen equipment for the concession area of the pavilion.
In its second year, KBB has raised more than $1,000 from $1 optional donations on Brownsboro water bills since last December. The organization depends on private and public donations for fundraising.
