Extravaganza set for July 4
A pyrotechnic display and silent auction will be featured at the Lake Palestine United Methodist Church 4th of July extravaganza at the amphitheatre on the lake.
The event is set to begin at 5 p.m., preceded by a 42 tournament inside the church at 3 p.m.
“Families are invited to bring picnic lunches and to enjoy the festivities at the amphitheatre on the lake,” the Rev. Richard Prather said. “We will have hot dogs and drinks available just in case you forget your picnic lunch. A watermelon eating contest and silent auction are some of the planned activities.”
A bounce house, waterslide, and snow cones will be available for children.
Also, “there will be live entertainment and, as the evening progresses, we will all be entertained with audience participation in Karaoke, patriotic singing ... and biggest and best pyrotechnic display in this area,” Prather said.
Contributions and donations are needed.
“We also need donated items for the silent auction and volunteers to help make this production run smoothly. Proceeds after expenses will be designated for God’s Open Hands and for upgrading the existing handicapped accessibility of the amphitheatre on the lake.”
To donate or volunteer, call the church at 903-849- 2379.
