Statesman receives Key Award
The Chandler & Brownsboro Statesman has been selected by the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International to receive its Key Award during a convention tonight in Waco.
“The local chapter, Kappa Pi, recommended that the newspaper be recognized and honored at our Texas State Organization convention on June 17,” TSO communications Chairman Shirl Hawes said in a letter to the paper.
The Key Award recognizes “excellence in coverage of local chapter news.”
Statesman Managing Editor Paul Bryant, who joined Bluebonnet Publishing in July 2009, said it has been a pleasure working with Kappi Pi.
“Organizations such as Delta Kappa Gamma Society International make my job easier — and more enjoyable,” he said. “My career in the newspaper industry, which dates back to 1995, has been enriched by people and organizations who consistently put the needs and interests of others ahead of their own.
“It is an honor to be recognized by Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and I thank the organization for the kindness it has shown in selecting the newspaper for the Key Award.”
The Statesman, a weekly newspaper covering parts of three counties, is owned by Bluebonnet Publishing of Kilgore.
