BEN WHEELER — Matt and Megan Magill are scheduled to perform here on Saturday during a street dance.

“The Rockabilly/Americana music of the Tylerbased, married singing duo of Matt and Megan Magill will keep guests dancing all night long,” a press release said. “This is a free event, and guests are invited to bring cool refreshments and lawn chairs and join the fun.”

The Independence Day celebration is set for 7:30 p.m. at the fire station downtown. Ronnie Weiss is also scheduled to perform.

Matt Magill is from Weatherford, Okla., and Megan, is a Tyler native. They spent nearly a decade in New York City before settling in East Texas. The Magills’ albums include “The Sting & The Honey,” “Song x Song” and their latest, “The Kings County Sound.”

Weiss, once part of the popular 1960s, garage-rock band Mouse & The Traps, will perform alongside them.

Moore’s Store on Friday and Saturday will host Karaoke night, from 7 to 10 p.m., with Riley Harris and DJ Law Dawg.

All of the musical festivities scheduled during these two nights are “familyfriendly events sponsored by Ben Wheeler Arts & Historic District Foundation,” the press release said.

“The town surprised us a bit last year with such a great turnout to dance and listen to good music,” Ben Wheeler Development Company owner Brooks Gremmels said. “Folks young and old danced into the night. It drew communit ies from near and far, and I hope they’ll come again this year.”
