Northland changes company name

Northland Cable Television has changed its name to Northland Communications.

The company began in 1981 as a cable television provider. According to a press release, supplying video services, Northland “has rapidly evolved over the years into a full-service communications provider.

“Recognizing that the company is now more than just a cable television company, the name Northland Communications better refl ects the advanced services now offered and the limitless possibilities for the future.”

Northland has invested millions of dollars building over 1,000 miles of fiberoptic network to connect customers to digital technology.

Supported by a “cutting edge network control center, Northland offers the sharpest digital and true high-definition TV, the fastest high-speed Internet, and the clearest digital homephone services to individuals and businesses in the community.”

“We saw an opportunity to better reflect our identity as a company,” said Lee Johnson, divisional vice president for Northland Communications. “As technology continues to advance and evolve, so will Northland.”

Tom Morris, general manager for the Tyler and Flint areas, said, “Our company name may have changed, but we remain true to what Northland has always strived to provide the very best services supported by our outstanding professional local employees.”

Northland is phasing in the name change in the southwest region, having already changed the name in the southeast region in April. The western region will complete the name change later this year.
