Funeral services for Christine S. Martin, 81, were June 29, 2010, at Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage, Miss. A memorial service was June 26 at First United Methodist Church in Chandler.

Burial followed at Fuston Cemetery in Walnut Grove, Miss.

Mrs. Martin died on June 24 in Tyler after a studden illness.

She was born in Salem, Miss., to Billie Matt Stewart and Edna G. Hanna. She married William B. Martin in Carthage, in 1949, and they lived in Wichita Falls. For the past 25 years, they lived in Chandler.

Mrs. Martin was a retired legal secretary, and a Methodist. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Chandler and an active supporter of Lake Palestine United Methodist Church.

She was a volunteer at The Litter Box, a benefit store for the Henderson County Humane Society, for many years.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years; brother, Billie Joe Stewart; and sister, Bet- ty Jean Donald.

She is survived by brother in-law, Mike Donald of Chandler; niece, Mary Ann Hendrix and husband, Gary, of Chandler and their daughter, Kimberly; nephew, Micheal Donald of Chandler and his daughter, April Wise and son, Skylar Downs.
