New restaurant set to open in Brownsboro

A new restaurant is expected to open in Brownsboro next month after Sissy Dean purchased the building that used to house Piggy’s on State Highway 31.

“I want people to be comfortable and feel at home when they come eat,” she said. “It’s a good, family restaurant, as well as a great place for meetings.”

Sissy’s Restaurant will feature fresh and homemade items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Daily lunch specials will be offered, with a full menu from which to order, and all-you-can-eat catfish on Friday nights.

“I believe in using fresh ingredients,” Dean said. “And we’ll serve homemade pies, as my Mom made for me in the past. Everyone loved them.”

Dean is breathing new life into the building and into the community. Wait- staff stations and flatscreen TV’s are in every room. Newly painted walls are decorated with knickknacks and greenery, creating a homey-atmosphere.

The vacant structure adjacent to her restaurant has been torn down to build a parking lot. Handicap parking will be designated on the side, leveling the sidewalk in the front for easier access.

Dean’s entrepreneurism goes back several years. She and her husband, David Dean, owned a restaurant in Edom before he was injured in a motorcycle accident in 2003.

“For those in the community who knew him, my husband is in a braininjury facility in San Marcos,” Sissy said. “He is so excited for me opening a new restaurant. We’ve had businesses together, but this will be the first without him by my side. I’m looking forward to serving Brownsboro.”
