Quilters set to install officers
The Quilters’ Guild of East Texas is scheduled to install next year’s offi- cers today at First Baptist Church-South Campus in Tyler.
The following officers will be installed: President Cathy Woodson of Chandler; First Vice President Marsha Morris of Bullard; Second Vice President Kar- en Thornton of Tyler; secretary Pam Howard of Bullard; and treasurer Cynthia Adrian of Flint.
After the installation, set for 10 a.m., Woodson will appoint standing committee chairpersons who will serve from October 2010 until September 2011.
At the 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. meetings, the scheduled guest speaker is Brenda Jeschke, who will share her thoughts on “what the judges look for” to help members working on quilts for the Azalea Quilt Show.
Jeschke has won many awards on the local, regional and national levels. Her work has appeared in several quilt magazines and books, as well as at the Ziegler Museum in Jennings, La.
Jeschke began quilting in 1982 and started showing her quilts in competition in 1989. She is a traditional quilt maker, a machine piecer, hand appliquer and hand quilter.
In 1998, she began judging quilt shows across Texas. Lecturing and teaching workshops were added to her resume in 2001.
And on Sept. 10, Jeschke will host a workshop.
