Caldwell Wins Chamber's Citizen of Year Award
Brownsboro Independent School District Superintendent Elton Caldwell and Johnie Paul Johnson of Chandler each won the Chandler Brownsboro Area Chamber of Commerce's Citizen of the Year award on Thursday night.
Chairman Milton Wallace thanked Caldwell for his more than 20 years of service with the school district. Johnson also received the honor for his work cleaning a Chandler street and other areas.
Janet Berry, a physical-education teacher at Brownsboro Elementary School, received the Teacher of the Year award.
The Law-Enforcement Officer of the Year award went to Brownsboro Police Officer Scott Myntti for his work involving “special cases against children,” said Dennis Mack, who presented the award to Myntti in Chief Thomas Robertson’s absence.
Chandler Volunteer Fire Department Cpt. Wes Johnston received the Fireman of the Year award. He helped secure grants to help finance two new fire trucks.
“Volunteer firemen are a special breed of person,” Chief Robert York said.
Brookeshire’s won the Business of the Year award.
An award for the chamber’s 100th member was presented to KT’s Seafood & Grill of Chandler.
