Meeting Set To Hire New BISD Superintendent
The Brownsboro Independent School District Board of Trustees has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday to formally hire Dr. Chris Moran as superintendent.
Moran is principal of Clear Lake High School in the Clear Creek Independent School District in Houston.
Before becoming principal at Clear Lake High School, Moran was principal at Whitehouse High School for six years. He spent four years in other roles at the school before taking over as principal.
Moran also worked for two other school districts before joining Whitehouse.
Trustees decided unanimously on April 25 to select Moran out of the six remaining candidates in a field of 69 to replace Elton Caldwell.
The meeting to offer Moran a contract was initially scheduled for Monday, but that didn't meet the 21-day waiting period for "official employment and contract execution" mandated by Texas law.
Moran graduated from Whitehouse High School before attending Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., on a basketball scholarship. He received a master's degree from the University of Texas at Tyler while working in Whitehouse, and then obtained his doctorate in educational leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2005.
Caldwell's tenure ends in July after 21 years as superintendent in Brownsboro.
Tuesday's meeting is set for 7 p.m.
