Christian Voices
I am sharing today about the CHANDLER MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE. This is a group of ministers in our area who meet at noon on the second Thursday of each month at Los Dos Patrillos. We consist of pastors and directors of music, education, and youth ministries. We fellowship together and plan for several events throughout the year. We work with the city and the school district to provide information and support in all aspects of life. If your pastor is not involved, I ask you to encourage them to join us.
This Sunday is our annual COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION that takes place at Faith Baptist Church in Chandler at 6 p.m. This is a great event giving thanks to God through great music and prayer. We recognize our civil servants, military, and take up an offering for GOD’S OPEN HANDS.
Music this year will be provided by a praise band, Chasing Truth, and a southern gospel group, New Grace Trio. Turkey and Dressing is provided but we ask families with last names beginning A-L bring side dishes and M-Z bring desserts. It’s great food and great music for all in the community.
In September the Ministerial Alliance rallies around our students in the implementation of the SAW YOU AT THE POLE, an evening event following the morning SEE YOU AT THE POLE.
The student ministers arrange the rally at the stadium with bands and a speaker. It has been an “all hands on deck” type of celebration with members planning, setting up and taking down, serving food and drinks, and counseling. Each year we pray we touch young lives through the speaker and music.
The first Thursday in May is National Day of Prayer. Over the past several years we have gathered around the flag at Winchester Park for some music and lots of praying. There have been some heartfelt prayers from members of our community as well as our ministers.
This is just a sampling of what the Ministerial Alliance does throughout the year. We are always open to the Holy Spirit moving in us to plan other events which will make disciples for Jesus Christ. If any ministers in the area wish to be informed of our meetings and events, send an e-mail to Ken Reid at hymn191andyou@embarqmail.com.
Finally, all men in the community are invited to the Community Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Dairy Queen every Tuesday at 7 a.m. We fellowship, have a devotion, and pray over the needs in the community and around the world.
