LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Editor,

I have enjoyed the Statesman so much since it has gone back to including personal stories and historical articles. My reason for writing just now is the ridiculous article in the Guest Opinion last week.

It never ceases to amaze me that liberal minds speak of everyone having their own opinion as long as it lines up with theirs. It never ceases to amaze me either that every two years the liberal voice begins to try to stir tensions in race and gender. Divide the people! If one really wanted to do the greater good they would listen instead of trying to coerce. Sadly all political parties do it.

Trying to make someone seem stupid because they have a different opinion crosses the line. The notion that one can look at the history of Unions without looking at where they have come to, in several cases, not all, and see nothing but good is naive at best.

I also would like to know what is wrong with teaching children that work is a good thing. Cleaning bathrooms and doing janitorial work is a noble profession held by many people and needed in businesses across this nation. It is another attempt to make the average American look, as George Soros said, “like little Homer Simpsons” and an attempt to make us dependent.

It is utter hypocrisy and I can no longer be silent. There has been an attempt to make people feel that there is nothing they can do to change things and that is just false. We have a voice. Our VOTE!

I don't see that Unions have been in any real danger of disappearing, and you don't have to worry about our children here in America because we are a country with laws to protect them. Quit trying to make it sound as if we are on the verge of putting them all in work houses. We would like for them to have work ethic!

And Ronald Reagan a Pollyanna?

Give us a break, to quote a very smart man! Listen to the people. The PEOPLE! There just might be some good come of it. Our founding fathers had the knowledge that too much government was not good and that is why our Constitution is such a unique document.

It was not meant to have tentacles into every part of our life. I have no problem with anyone having a different opinion from me. We both are guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Thank you for giving me the privilege of stating my opinion!

Peggy Smith,

Brownsboro
