Faith Baptist Church Brownsboro will begin holding a Senior lunch free of charge every Tuesday beginning Sept. 6.

Friendly games of 42 and 84 (dominoes) and mahjong are being played Tuesdays at 1:30 om at the Heritage Hall at the First United Methodist Church. Beginners are welcome.

Feb. 10 – March 11

A fast-track certified nursing aide course is being taught by Rayjeana Logan from 6-9pm and 8am-5pm, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 10-March 11, and March 12-April 2 in Palestine. $713. Students are required to attend Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can register at any Trinity Valley Community College campus or by completing a registration form and faxing or mailing it to TVCC.

Feb. 14-June 20

Medication Administration classes will be taught Tuesday and Thursday 5-9pm. Feb 14- June 20. The 140-hour course provides instruction in the preparation for the medication administration exam for nurse aides. Students will submit an Experience Documentation Report form documenting current employment on the first official day of the training program. The classes will be in Palestine, and cost is $625. Textbook required and is available in the TVCC Bookstore. The registration can be done at any TVCC campus or online.

February 16

The East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society, Inc. will host ‘’Building a Bat House/Box” at 5:30pm on Feb. 16. Information and supplies will be furnished for each person enrolled to build and take home a bat house. Coffee and refreshments will be served. Reservations required. Cost is $35. Arboretum members cost $30. All members receive a discount cost on admission.

February 17

The Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension Service will hold an East Texas Pasture Management Program Feb. 17 in Overton. The program begins with registration at 12:30 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, 1710 N. Farm-to-Market Road 3053. February 19

Kara and Jonathan Story will perform at 3pm, Feb. 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Chandler in the sanctuary. Those couples who have been 50 years or more, and those individuals who are 80 years of age and older will be recognized during this service and at a reception following the concert.

February 25

Everyone is invited to Clicks Live in Tyler at 9pm, Saturday, February 25. Come out and support your local bands, Victims of Sanity and Cinder Cell. Others performing are (Hed) PE and Motograter. Tickets are $14 and can be purchased at the door or through members of Victims of Sanity and Cinder Cell.

March 4

The annual Kidd Family Reunion & Friends’ event will be at the Edom Community Center from 11am-2pm, March 4, 2017. There will be a potluck meal at noon. For more information, call (208) 479-1947.

Concert for Joshua Graves — A concert is planned for 4-10pm to benefit Joshua Graves. Joshua is a local toddler who was diagnosed with leukemia. The event will be

at the Athens VFW. For donations or more information contact Tabitha Taylor at 903- 203-7515. This is sponsored by the Brownsboro Rednecks Riding Club.

March 16

Chickens 101 Workshop will be at 2pm on March 16. There will be a workshop discussing the care and raising of chickens. Vendors will be present. You will be able to purchase chickens to carry home. Bring your own cage. Fresh eggs will be available for purchase. Coffee and refreshments will be served. Cost is $15. All members receive a discount cost on admission. East Texas Arboretum, Athens.

March 16

Hiking and Exploring our Arboretum: From 9am-3pm, Thursday, March 16, the East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society, Inc. will host a special day. Education volunteers will provide learning activities and crafts throughout the day. Wear proper shoes for hiking and game playing. This is for ages five – 12. Lunch and snack provided. Reservations required. Cost is $25. Two or more children in family receive $5 discount. All members receive a discount cost on admission.

March 25

Jonah’s Heroes 5K/One Mile Fun Run/Walk — A 5K/One Mile Fun Run has been set for 9am March 25 at Winchester Park to Chandler. This race will benefit two local children with cancer.For more information they can email Jonahsheroes@gmail.com or call 903-570-4153.
