Bears’ Powerlifting places
In the meet at Chapel Hill ISD last week, the powerlifting team from Brownsboro High School competed. Results from Coach Justin Waltz were as follows: Emerald Benavidez, first place, 123s; Victoria Ayars, first place, 259s; Kristen Phillips, third place, SHW; and Bryce Stephens; first place, 148s.
Bearettes lose by three
Last week’s game against Mabank for the Brownsboro Bearettes’ varsity basketball team was quite a heartbreaker for the girls from Brownsboro. They lost by three points in overtime 55-58. Top scorers included: Lindsay Edwards, 25; Ty Warren, 10; McKenzie Smith, eight; Tay Tay Limbrick, four; and Morgyn Fulgham and Tamaria Manning, three. The junior varsity girls lost 25 to 30 to Mabank. Alexis Rumbo led with 10 points. The freshmen girls from Brownsboro won 33 to Mabank’s five. Jalisa English led with 14 points.
Bears win over Mabank
The Brownsboro High School Bears’ boys’ basketball team defeated Mabank 61-45. Top scorers for the Bears were: Kenneth Woods, 19 and Jamal Bell, 19; Jake Conner, 11; Kevon Thompson, eight and Wyatt Rinehart, four. The Brownsboro JV Boys won 52 to 39 over Mabank’s JV, and the freshmen from Brownsboro won 39 to 20 over Mabank’s freshmen.
Bears claim third district championship
The Brownsboro High School Bears’ boys’ basketball team claimed its third straight district championship Friday as they defeated Van 72 to 58. Top scorers for Brownsboro were: Kenneth Woods with 26, Jamal Bell with 17, Jake Conner with 13, Wyatt Rinhart with 10, Kevon Thompson and Saul Williams with three a piece, and Jamal Bell had two three pointers. The junior varsity boys lost by 12 to Van, and the freshmen Bears won by six. This brings the Brownsboro Bears’ season record to 21-7 and the district record to a perfect nine wins and no losses.
