Athletic Director search continues
BROWNSBORO - After the resignation of Jason Hooker, Brownsboro High School athletic director and head football coach, officials with the Brownsboro Independent School District began a search to replace him.
Hooker had been with Brownsboro for around four years.
Tommy Hunter, BISD School Superintendent, told the Statesman via email on Tuesday before Easter that the committee had started interviewing. “We have had about 100 applicants.”
Of the committee, Hunter said, “I have a committee consisting of myself, Dr. Keri Hampton, Brandon Jones, Brad Robertson, Brent Smith, Fred Griffin, Brian Bersano and Michele Blackmon.
With more than 100 applicants, Hunter stated, “We have decided to interview 10. We will be bringing the top two or three candidates back next week, and hopefully, have our new athletic director in place by May.” (Editor’s Note - BISD board president, Brian Bersano confirmed over the phone that at Thursday’s called meeting, a candidate finalist for the AD role will be presented for approval.)
“We are looking for a coach with great character, a role model and the ability to lead our programs,” he said. “Of the 10 candidates, I feel that we will have a great person leading our programs and school athletics.”
