BUILDING BRIDGES — MAKING PEACE Art of Peace—Tyler is a weeklong, local celebration of the annual United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21. The 2017 theme is Building Bridges — Making Peace with the ongoing mission of Creating a more Compassionate Community. The 2017 Peace Honoree is Habitat for Humanity of Smith County. This year’s events include a Honk for Peace rally, a night of Peace Music at Stanley’s BBQ, a Peace Art booth at the Boys & Girls Club Day for Kids, a Peace Poetry Reading & Open Mic, a Tyler Museum of Art Peace Art Exhibit, a Peace Meditation session, a Peace Pole installation at Bergfeld Park, a Community Peace Meal and a Living Peace Sign. Kim Campbell, wife of the legendary Rhinestone Cowboy Artist Glen Campbell, is an impassioned speaker who has an intimate understanding of the complex challenges faced by people living with dementia and their families. Mrs. Campbell will be the keynote speaker at the sixth annual Butterfly Hope Luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 7pm at Willow Brook Country Club in Tyler.
