Georgia Faye Starkey

Services for Georgia Bunker Starkey, 91, of Chandler were held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 10:30am at Chandler United Methodist Church with Reverend Bryan Harkness officiating. Mrs. Starkey passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017.

Georgia Scroggins Bunker Starkey was born July 12, 1926, in Cleveland, Arkansas to the late, Lonnie and Annie Scroggins. She graduated from Morrilton High School in 1944 and went to work for the New York Stock Exchange. She married Woody Bunker on July 20, 1945 and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1997. She was active in the PTA while her children were in school and served as PTA president. She lived in Irving from 1955 until 1979 and worked for Allstate Insurance Company retiring in 1983 in Tyler. Georgia was a member of Chandler United Methodist Church and a volunteer with the Chandler library from its beginning operation in a bus in 1983.

Georgia met Jerry Starkey on Valentine’s Day in 2000 and they were married September 10 of that same year. They cherished the time they spent together and traveled as long as his health allowed.

Mrs. Starkey is survived by her husband, Jerry Carl Starkey of Chandler; sons, Phil Bunker and wife, Kay of Colleyville, Terry Bunker and wife, Mary Ann of Troup; daughter Kyla Lutke and husband, Richard of Hurst, and four grandchildren,

Kim Hays and husband, Kevin of North Richland Hills, Brian Bunker and wife, Molly of Plano, Lindsey Adkins, and husband, Ben currently living in Southeast Asia, and Nathan Bunker and wife, Meghan, of Georgetown. Great grandchildren, Jackson and Maddie Bunker of Plano and Carson Hays of North Richland Hills; as well as her sister, Jessie Lay of Irving. Her greatest joy was her family, especially the grandchildren who lovingly called her Mimi. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leon Scroggins on October 11, 1996.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Texas.
